Our Oh-So-Fair Media At Work
Last Thursday, as the immigration bill was going down in flames, Senator Kennedy said of the bill's opponents:
“We know what they don’t like. What are they for? What are they going to do with the 12 million who are undocumented here? Send them back to countries around the world? Develop a type of Gestapo here to seek out these people that are in the shadows?”
Those oh-so-objective reporters at the NYT know something offensive when they see it. This is a story in today's paper entitled "After Bill’s Fall, G.O.P. May Pay in Latino Votes":
Yet in terms of the politics of perception, Hispanics may have been deeply alienated by the heated rhetoric that wound around the axle of the debate, most of it stemming from a few Republican opponents and the loud echo chamber of talk radio...For example, Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama, a leading opponent of the measure, at one point in the debate, said, “The bill would provide amnesty and a path to citizenship for people who broke into our country by running past the National Guard.”

The GOP may pay in Hispanic votes for attempting to defend our borders is just one of many MSM biases. Republicans do very bad with voters with less than a grade school education regardless of ethnicity. You would think that the GOP would be trying to tilt US immigration policy towards middle class immigrants -- but they just can't say no to cheap labor interests. This is what's killing the future of the GOP.

When the Republicans likely receive about the same percentage of the Latino vote they always obtain regardless of their immigration policies, the MSM will remain silent. Alternatively, the MSM will claim that receiving approximately a third of the Latino vote is a stunning new failure for Republicans when, in fact, it is what they typically manage, "heated rhetoric" or not.

Jeez. Let's see. Ted Kennedy calls US law enforcement a "Gestapo" and Jeff Sessions points out that the bill would provide amnesty for those who broke into the US, which I think most people would agree it does. Sessions is the one who is called on rhetoric!
The MSM has lost any credibility that it might have ever had. The MSM is as shallow as a ditch!

an immigrant charge law would turn every immigrant into a Republican, nobody votes for programs they're not eligible for.
